A Navisworks plugin and a web app

The design team records each comment in the model. The team and the client close it in the web app.

Each person does their part. All other persons get the information.

Many persons attend a 30/60/90% model review. Only some of them must change the records. In Kroons, each project member has a role. The role gives only the access that the person must have.

Writer

Your design team. A writer records markups, replies to comments and proposes fixes.

Client

The review team of the owner. The client adds comments to markups. The client accepts or rejects each proposed fix.

Reader

Other persons who must have the information, for example external piping designers or maintenance specialists. A reader can see markups and add comments. A reader cannot change markups.

Project admins give the roles.

You raise comments in the plugin. The client can accept or reject a fix in the plugin. You do all other follow-up in the web app.

  1. Raise. During the review, a writer records the client comment in Navisworks. The comment has a pin at the location in the model.
  2. Discuss. Writers, readers and the client add comments. They use Navisworks or the web app.
  3. Propose. A writer proposes a fix in the web app.
  4. Close. The client accepts the fix in the plugin or in the web app. If the client rejects the fix, the discussion continues. At the next review, the open items are already in the model.

The web app: the work between reviews

You raise comments during the 3D review. The work occurs between the reviews. Your team and your client use the Kroons web app between the reviews. Navisworks is not necessary for this.

  • See the open items. The list shows each open item of the project and its state.
  • See the history of each item. Each comment, proposal and decision on an item shows in sequence, with its author and its date.
  • Keep a full audit log. The log is a full record of the project events. Use it when a person asks: "Who approved this?"
  • Do a status check at any time. Do a quick status check with the client between 3D reviews. Then most items are closed before the next review.
  • Comment from any location. Clients and specialists use a web browser. They see the markups and add comments.

What the plugin does in Navisworks

Log in and select a review

Log in with your email address and a one-time code, or with a password. Then select a review from the list. A .hdmark file is not necessary.

See all markups

A side panel shows each markup with its ID, title, state, date, author and number of comments. Click a column header to sort the list.

Go to the saved view

Go back to the camera position of the markup, in perspective or orthographic view. You can go back to this view at any time.

Pins coloured by state

Open is red, Proposed is amber and Solved is green. The selected pin is larger. Kroons draws the pins on the screen only. It does not write to the model.

Create markups in the model

Click a point in the model. Add a title and a comment, and attach a screenshot. Link the markup to a maximum of 1000 selected model items.

See the full history

See each step of a markup: opened, commented, solution proposed, rejected or accepted by the client, reopened. You can download and open screenshots and attachments.

Built for Autodesk® Navisworks® 2024–2027 (Manage and Simulate).
